About Lewis Moffat
Professionally, I am a machine learning researcher, currently based at Generate:Biomedicines, where I lead high-impact technical initiatives in generative models for drug design.
As an expert at the intersection of machine learning and protein design for drug design, I work on bleeding-edge problems with highly interdisciplinary teams.
During my doctoral work, I developed deep generative models for advanced protein design and structure prediction.
I'm lucky to have published some of the first work using generative models for protein design, and my research spanning machine learning, biology, chemistry, and more has been highly cited.
All opinions expressed here are my own.
Escape Room Business & Design Consultant - Conceptual Link Limited
2020-Present
Providing bespoke designs and implementations for physical and digital puzzle-based experiences. Specializing in the integration of AI/ML and data analytics to create intelligently-driven experiences. Most recently worked with Clue Adventures (London, UK).
Postdoctoral Researcher - University College London
2022-2023
As a researcher in Prof. David Jones's FRS group I developed S4PRED, a SOTA homology-free protein structure prediction method. Also led the development of 'DARK' models, iterative protein sequence transformer LLMs for designing de novo protein structures and sequences. Significantly involved in several group projects, including contributions to the 'PSIPRED' software suite, and with the publication of several articles and reviews.
